I’ve always loved having friends and family over, especially during the summer months. I guess I’m just a natural hostess. Entertaining people is my thing. I know where to get the best drinks, the best snacks, and hold the best time. Everyone I know says it. I’ve wanted to build a deck in my backyard for years, but I’ve never gotten around to it. It costs money and can be a big job, so I guess I’ve always put it off. I’ve decided no more waiting around. This year I’m going to make it happen.
I know a deck would not only add value to my home, but it will also provide a great space for entertaining. The vision of all the barbeque I’ll be able to host on this deck motivates me even further. Luckily, I was able to talk my husband into wanting a deck too. My husband is quite a hands on guy, so we decided to go ahead with building the deck ourselves. He knows exactly where to get timber supplies. Cheltenham has many timber suppliers, but few sell good quality timber. I don’t want timber that has many blemishes. I want my deck to look pristine.
We headed to the hardware store last Wednesday. We didn’t want to waste any more time on the conceptualisation stage and simply start putting hammer to nail. We ended up visiting the most recommended hardware store Cheltenham has to offer. As much as my husband is a bit of a handyman, we thought it was best to speak to the store assistant to get some advice on how to start a deck building project. They explained how to use each type of timber and provided us with tips to make the building process easier.
The next few weeks were honestly spent on the deck. I don’t think we did anything else with our days. Now I’m looking forward to getting it stained, and ready for our next party.
