Well, it seems like it’ll just be me and Joe on this adventure to the plumbing escape room tomorrow. Everyone else has had to cancel, for perfectly legitimate reasons as far as I can tell. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to a fun group activity. I suppose some alone time with Joe is good too, though. I can ask him how his sewer repair business around Melbourne is going. Then, hopefully, he’ll ask me about my art course. I got a high distinction on my most recent assignment, so I wouldn’t mind bragging about that.

I got the first call on Wednesday from Timmy, who said that he couldn’t come to the escape room because he realised that his favourite football team was playing that day, and he really wanted to watch the game. Now, I don’t know the first thing about football, so I’ve just gotta take his word for it. Hopefully the Caulfield Bow Rails go well on the weekend.

Anyway, that wasn’t a big deal, because there would still be four of us. But when my phone rang on Thursday morning, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. Yep, it was Jackson, calling to tell me that he wouldn’t be able to make it either. Apparently, there are several blocked drains near Camberwell, in houses that Jackson is leasing out (he has several investment properties), and he needs to spend the weekend dealing with them. It’s just a shame that Joe won’t be available to help since we’ll be at the escape room together.

This morning, I had Sarah text me to say that she couldn’t make it either. I thought that was just typical, but she has a good excuse. Apparently, her grandfather just passed away, and she needs to go to the funeral. It’s just weird that Sarah has like six grandfathers who have passed away, but who am I to judge her family size? Some of them could be step grandfathers or something.

So yeah, it’s just going to be me and Joe tomorrow, but hopefully we can still have fun and actually finish the escape room in an hour.
